We are also Back To Business

Written by Johny Cow on February 12, 2008 – 4:02 pm

Wow ! It’s good to be back again. Nearly a month off from our blogging business and all the blogging activities have stopped , it was a new blog and I stopped blogging for almost a month. Last time I blogged was on 15th January and at time there was a controversy going on between many blogger’s as to who was copy cat and who was not. Really do you consider this blog as copy cat, Jason from TUK , some one from Can’t Get Rich, one was a person who tried to place me in a category in which he was there.

So Let’s get off this debate of who is a worst blogger and who is good blogger, we should concentrate on single thing that I am back and this is a very Good News for Blogging Community as till today you all were missing on two blogger’s and both were cow’s but as both have returned so It should be very clear that you will get more blogging fun with day’s to pass by.

What we did all these days ? MMMMM Let me start from beginning from 15th January to 26 January I was gone for a wedding in the family , and from 27th January I was enjoying holidays with my family members in Village. So what I did was , I got bored without my laptop, no internet connection , no mobile. I was pretty much sure that I would be getting many mails during my off from the blogging thing. Oh yes I got around 450 mails from various sources, and coming from Holiday’s I got myself a New Nokia-6500 Slide Phone to start off the season in a new style. So those who thought I would be gone were absolutely wrong and now that I have returned I think it would be nice if you can visit my blog and check the cool things I am going to do with my blogging experience in the near future.

Ahhh I am not so famous as John Cow which is shown in his feed increase which went from 1050 to 1300 due to his unavailability from blogging since the last month , mine has not increased as I have not checked them till today. I would be checking them by the end of this month and I am sure I would get around 20 new subscribers ..:grin: Nice and Steady Start for a New COW :evil:

Mocking mania

Written by Johny Cow on January 15, 2008 – 8:00 pm

As soon as I logged into My Blog’s Dashboard today I got an incoming link from a Blog named as Cant get Rich who was written by Jason from TUK or should I say guest posted by Jason on Cant get rich. He just started addressing that there are many blogs out there who are going into great deal with many sort of blah blah and blah. With this he named my blog and someone who is parody blog of another famous blog. Well if you do not know Mr Jason the first uniques whatsoever who went to John Cow’s blog were from some referrals sites including blogs where he commented. At that time it was a hit formula and he succeeded in making mockery of John Chow dot com the so called dot com mogul or whatever.

Well who am I to justify one of those lazy arsed university student who tries to be successful at Money Making Online. Sharing your Digitalpoint Forums Experience would get you some visitors for sometime but what then , you will get yourself pretty much fu**ed off. You would have nothing. Lets talk some business here. If some one called this blog as parody then he/she might be mistaken because of simple reason this domain may be similar or little bit near about parody but still content is unique till date.

And now for a simple fact that TUK aka Mr Jason mentioned in his last paragraph mentioned

“I hope I’ve already drilled it into you, but make sure you be unique if you want to succeed as a blogger online. If you don’t want to succeed, by all means – copy one of the big boys and go full steam ahead; don’t be surprised if you receive only a few visitors and comments.”

Really what do you want to say Mr Jason how much comments do you receive , 5,10,12,30,50, or 90. I don’t think that you get so much of comments and readers as well. Oh Yes your RSS subscriber numbers are stuck at 99 …. No problemo you got that as well. Just start a crap contest and get some cheeky visitors between do not forget to have some contests going on like your last one where you got some pretty cheap banner ads for your website (No Link to that :evil: ). Now for a simple reason writing lengthy posts is not the winning formula , its pretty simple to get the posts to topic.

I just forgot to mention, the latest contest you won on Winning the Web , how many comments that site gets (leave the contest posts) just 3-4 -5 or 10 something like that , Check that dude, getting your blog reviewed from Bigger blog is not necessary if you do not have content. There will be a temporary increase in readers / subscribers and then it will drop and believe me I do not have a problem with dropped readership and comments , even Mr Chow took 2 years to reach this stage and Mr Cow took 7 months to reach this stage of earning money and my friend some day I would even get there but I do not want to.

 Last but a sincere apology to all of those who dropped their entrecards and comments on my post and I was not able to give them their credits but I will do that tomorrow. So those who commented , are you sure that you guys entered your Entrecard Email Id , I will send credits on those emails only.  Thank You.

Short Lived Entrecard

Written by Johny Cow on January 14, 2008 – 7:02 pm

After dropping some whooping number of entrecards to many other websites, I have decided to act as my counterpart did to part with Entrecard, not only because the bounce rates are high but also because in first week I dropped as many cards as I could so as to bring in some traffic and then readers to my blog but with the experiment I have done I think that letting off Entrecards is best thing to do with your blog .

What I did with entrecards was dropping a huge number of cards and in return I was getting some amount of visits from Entrecard’s but as of today I have removed them. Check these stats , as of today I am not left with any credits in entrecard as I have to send E-Card credits to those who won in the contest this 13th January.

quickstats.jpg

Just like many other bloggers I was getting around 60-80 card drops per day but as you know the “new things attract the kids” the same was case with me as well. I was well attracted and lost much of my valuable bandwidth in order to get some traffic and visitor but as soon as I left dropping cards I am now placed at a position way below many sites.

Check the Entrecard Stats

carddrops.jpg

Many or I should say most of the bloggers who want to get noticed in this blog sphere are entering this E-Card business and dropping enough cards on the blogs so that they might earn enough credits with which they would get advertised on many highly read blogs just like John Chow’s or Problogger. Now as Cow mentioned who would like to go to this blog and advertise on his blog which has only 21 Rss subscribers.

Some how I came into whole of this blogging part because of Mr Chow, reading that online income could be very much easy if you can easily get it into right direction. He did the things into right direction and this is what am I doing now. I am focussing now a days to get noticed but not because of this E-Cards which have no value and visitors do come to your site just in order to waste your precious bandwidth.

Looking at the Quick stats for my blog,Initially I was visiting many blogs read some articles and then dropped my cards on them and used the right top red button in Firefox ( :evil: ) I made up list of many blogs with a target=_blank attribute so that I do not have to visit that blog again that day without clearing my cookies , Once I dropped the card I closed the blog and then visted othe blog. This was a real headache for me because to increase visitors to your site you have to drop cars which is justified but not for me. I have to wake up in the morning go through normal routine of freshning up and then eating breakfast and then moving to office to do usual work. As of now I do not have any time to visit any blog and then drop the e-card to their blog so now I am also in a mood to quit E-Card or should I say after this blog post I will quit E-card. Nah Nah E-card Gone.

Sorry Entrecard As of now I have to dump you.

What is Urchin ?

Written by Johny Cow on January 12, 2008 – 8:23 pm

In the last post I mentioned that I would be writing some shit on Google Analytics and the Urchin Code and so called urchin. You must have used Google Analytics code in some way or the other,or sometimes you might have seen this image in the status bar when the page loads slowly or your internet is dying.

ga1.JPG

This is the initial thing in Google Analytics. When you open up a website, to count the pageviews, unique visitors,traffic etc, you need to have a tracking program which gives you detailed information about your site visitors, their computers, location and more details. There are many sites doing the same thing then why Google Analytics only.

Actually Google Analytics is free to use program and it gives you approximately accurate details about the statistics of the site visits and statistics,with which you can estimate the traffic and other details about a website.

So coming back to the topic what is urchin ?
Urchin is a small javascript code written by Google so that you might be able to get detailed statistics about your website.

A Google Analytics code starts like this

<script src=”http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js” type=”text/javascript”>
</script>
<script type=”text/javascript”>
_uacct = “UA-XXXXXX-XX”;
urchinTracker();
</script>

Where symbols have their usual meaning :lol:

Actually here

_uacct is the user account of urchin for which data has to be collected.
Now we look at the urchin.js file.

ga2.JPG

As you can see here in the urchin.js file there are many settings which can be configured in the user area of Analytics. Now as you see here that the Google analytics code starts with the urchin.js file and as soon as the page loads before the execution of any javascript its parent file has to be loaded and as the javascript function urchinTracker(); is called it begins to search in the above mentioned urchin.js the mentioned data and then collects the timestamped data and then by the function named as _uGT the data is sent to https://www.google.com/analytics/reporting/overlay_js/gaso . As soon as the javascript is loaded then the data is sent back to the reporting url as mentioned above.If you want to see the actual data which is in function urchinTracker(); you can open up the urchin.js from this link.

Q: Why urchin is using simple Javascripts not complex php scripts or asp scripts ?
Well answer to this question can only be given by Google but it is sure that what you are seeing is not all truth, the background work of millions of websites is done in some sort of database and some sort of language other than simple html.This is what I really do not know.If any one of you really know about this please do tell me.

Other than this answer the simple answer to this question can be javascripts can work on any front end type i.e. a simple html page,a php page or any pages and can be placed anywhere in your page. As you are reading this page , it is sure that you might have arrived at this post from any website and your details have been saved in your cookies and what urchin.js does is it tracks cookies and checks the referrer headers in the cookies and as you visit any page it stores and sends all the data to Google Analytics Reporting cell. One more thing to notice here is that Google Analytics does not collect any personal data , it collects only the data which has to be gathered by code like

  1. Visitor Header information (Referrer Headers Not your Website header or header with logo.)
  2. Which page you are watching or reading.
  3. Size of the screen or Screen Size(Screen Resolution).
  4. IP address of the visitor.
  5. How many times you have visited the page/s.

and many things like this mentioned in the analytics code. As soon as you put this code i.e. Analytics code on to your page , a Google bot checks your page then it verifies that you have successfully installed analytics code. The first reports start usually within the first 24 hours.

More about urchin in the next post.
